25 years ago KARCHER DESIGN made its first appearance on the market at the International Hardware Fair in Cologne. Back then, brass was the most common production material for lever handles.
Using the slogan “Design makes the difference“ KARCHER DESIGN presented various design-oriented door and window handles made of brass. The top selling model was “ER35 Lignano“ – the very first original design. In the following years KARCHER DESIGN’s brass products would make the company one of the strongest competitors on the market.
The market however is in constant change, so more and more of our brass models were replaced by lever handles and accessories made of high quality stainless steel, which has become more relevant over recent years. This is why today KARCHER DESIGN is known for its “Designs of stainless steel“.
Now we offer stainless steel lever handles in various finishes: in satin or polished stainless steel, in bicolour combinations like polished/satin stainless steel, or in combinations with leather. Oil Rubbed Bronze, a dark finish with bronze accents, is our newest finish. The KARCHER range also includes matching security sets, glass door locks, window handles and a variety of stainless steel accessories.
KARCHER DESIGN has not only developed new products, we have also entered new markets, gaining a significant position on the British, French, and Austrian markets. In 2015 KARCHER DESIGN N.A. LLC was opened as a new subsidairy in Seattle, USA, to ensure the continuous growth of KARCHER’s revenue outside of Europe while offering local customers a professional service within convenient reach.
Ulrich and Irmgard Karcher established KARCHER DESIGN in 1991 and ran the company until 2014, when the next generation took over management.
The siblings Jan Karcher and Isabel Karcher are now the Managing Directors and the future will bring new challenges that need to be faced with new ideas and innovative concepts.
Today the name KARCHER DESIGN represents a modern company: a recently improved logistics concept allows us to process and dispatch orders with more speed and efficiency. The new CRM system gives our sales representatives additional communication tools to further improve the customer service. Our main office in Bad Rappenau, Germany, has also been our training center for many years, giving young people the chance to contribute to the company’s future with their innovative ideas.
